Iraqi forces seized an explosives vest and a stockpile of weapons belonging to the "Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant" (ISIL) during a raid in southern Baghdad, the Baghdad Operations Command said Tuesday (March 7th).
“A force from the 1st Division conducted a search operation on the border between Baghdad and Diyala, east of the capital, and found a stockpile of weapons belonging to ISIL," the command said in a statement.
The cache contained rifles, light and medium weapons, ammunition, nine containers of strong explosives, an explosives vest and 24 rocket-propelled grenades (RPGs) and bombs of different sizes, the statement said.
The operation was conducted based on intelligence information, the command said.
